Poza Horyzontem - Beyond the Horizon (video)

ImagePoza Horyzontem is a very beautiful documentary about W. Siudmak filmed in 2004 in Paris (polish language).

Presentation of the artist

Wojtek Siudmak, an artist of Polish origin, settled in France in 1966 and is considered one of the principal representatives of fantastic realism (like M.C. Escher, L. Fini and others). He himself claims to be a fantastic hyper realist, conscientiously putting his originality into relief.

The phenomenon genesis or "the art of cosmogonies"

In the seventies SIUDMAK became involved with a group of artists who focused on a limited number of fantasy and science fiction publishing houses. This branch of art and literature starts attracting interest among Parisian intellectuals.

Matter Mother Earth

What is on the horizon for the Third Millennium?

We are so full of wonder at the break of a beautiful day, that we overlook how radically different our vision is today, to that of mankind’s in the dawn of history.
Copernicus established that the Earth revolves around the Sun, as do other planets.  It is only recently, for the first time in the history of humanity, that we have been able to wonder at her beauty and fragility from the perspective of the Cosmos.  We have come to realise just how solitary and lost we are in the depth of the Universe.
Our technological prowess has by far outweighed our expectations and we are unsure whether we are capable of such bewildering progress.
We can erect cathedrals reaching up to the heavens, yet in a split second we can raze them to the ground.  We long for Harmony, Beauty and Peace, and that search has been there since humanity began.
Can living in peace and without fear of others, ever be possible?

Wojciech Siudmak was born on 10th of October 1942 in Wielun in Poland. He is considered to be one of the principal representatives of fantastic realism. He studied at the College of Plastic Arts in Warsaw from 1956 to 1961 and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1961 to 1966. In September 1966, he arrived in France to continue his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1967 and 1968.
